About Tinkilee

My love for poodles goes back to my early years when I admired a black Standard and begged the owners to let me walk him. It was not until 1970 while living in England that I got my first poodle, a white miniature of the Fircot lines.

Later after returning to Bermuda with my whites I purchased two miniatures from the Rudolph of Piperscroft lines, at this time I was more interested in Obedience. I finished several in obedience before the bug bit me for the conformation ring.

I did some breeding with Doris Cozart and this gave me Napoleon and Josephine. Sadly, tragedy struck and I lost these two dogs and nine others in a fire in January 1989. At this point I thought of getting out of dogs, as I also lost my mate in the tragic fire. Perhaps I blamed the dogs? My mate died saving them.

With a heavy heart I went to PCA that year and was definitely planning to get out of dogs after the heartbreak I endured. But it was not meant to be. Poodles were to remain in my life.

I met Nancy Hafner and Ianthe Bloomquist at PCA. They sent me home full of hope and enthusiasm with Baliwick Murphy Brown, who attained her Bermuda and Canadian titles and ApogeeRaphine. These two dogs are the basis of my current Black Line. Without the help, advice and encouragement of these two fine poodle people I am sure I would not be in Poodles today, much less achieve the level of success I have had and continue to have.

I believe in producing quality poodles. I am a strong believer in genetic testing. I have put years into producing genetically sound and conformationally correct poodles.

I now reside in the small town of Debert Nova Scotia. My poodles live in the house and all puppies are whelped and raised in my home.

I own a grooming shop beside my house and my employee Alfreda Livingston helps to keep the poodles in wonderful coat condition.

I am the mother of five children and a grandmother. One son resides near me in Nova Scotia. The other children give me reason to go back to Bermuda and bask in the wonderful sunshine!

At 80 years I have decided I, as a Handler, do not do my dogs the justice they deserve, so this will be the last Champion I will do myself. Tinkilee Poodles will be in the ring with more capable Handlers.
